My Current Setup

I’ve got a lab in my basement for soldering and working on the actual circuits and gear. I have a desk next to my bed with my antenna connectors run through the wall, this allows me to down those NOAA images without losing sleep for it.

I have also pretty much been lurking (I’ve made some CQ calls that went unresponded) since I got my license. CW is going to be how I change that. Once I can get CW down pretty well, I’m hoping to do some digital modes.

So the list currently is:

Antennae

  • Adjustable dipole 120 degrees with 53.4 CM arms (tuned for 137 MHz NOAA APT signals)
  • 20/40m Trap Dipole south facing inverted V 18’ off ground

Radios

  • Pacific Antenna Easy 40M Receiver
  • Pacific Antenna Easy 40M Transmitter 7.040 (In progress)
  • RTL-SDR V3

Expansion List

  • (tr)uSDR
  • QRP Labs QCX+
  • QRP Labs QDX
  • 30 foot antenna mast (planned for PVC conduit… I’ll do a build log)

Focus

I’m really focused on QRP, both from a challenge perspective and the sheer joy of being able to do so much with some batteries and homebuilt gear!

I might consider doing 10W SSB if I ever get around to building a phone radio …
